Welcome to 7th grade English Language Arts. My name is Dana Kosmark and I have been teaching in the North Bergen School District for over 25 years. During this time, I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 7th grade at Franklin School. I also taught 5th grade for a number of years at Lincoln School. After I left Lincoln School, I became a Literacy Coach for a few years before taking on the role of 7th-grade English teacher at Franklin. I am very excited to continue teaching 7th grade at the new Junior High School.
I feel reading is essential in life and that is why I will encourage reading every day. So what is the impact of reading? Students become better writers, develop richer vocabulary, and increase background knowledge. Reading also improves focus, memory, empathy, and communication skills. These are some of the reasons why reading is so impactful.
I am a William Paterson University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and I hold a Master's Degree in Reading and Literacy from Walden University. I am married and have 3 children. I also have a Shih Tzu, who I love, named Milo. He is the cutest. I am looking forward to working with your child at the North Bergen Junior High School.
