Mr. Leo's - School Social Worker/Case Manager

Hi, I’m the School Social Worker. My job is to support students, families, and staff so that everyone feels safe, understood, and ready to do their best in school. I help with feelings, friendships, learning challenges, and making sure home and school work together.

How I Can Help

  • Student Support: Meet with students one-on-one or in small groups to talk about stress, emotions, friendships, or school struggles.

  • Crisis Help: Be there during emergencies or tough situations, like family problems or sudden changes.

  • Family Support: Connect families with community resources such as counseling, food, or housing help.

  • Advocacy: Make sure students’ voices are heard when school decisions are made.

  • Classroom Lessons: Teach skills like problem-solving, calming down, and building healthy friendships.

  • Teamwork with Staff: Partner with teachers and principals to make school a positive and supportive place.

IEPs & Case Management

  • Case Manager: Help organize and keep track of services for students who get special education support.

  • IEP Meetings: Attend meetings to share how a student is doing socially, emotionally, and behaviorally, so the plan fits the whole child.

  • Student Voice: Encourage students to understand their IEP and speak up about their goals, strengths, and needs.

  • Family Partner: Explain the IEP process to families and answer questions so everyone feels included.

  • Service Coordination: Work with teachers, counselors, and specialists to make sure everyone is on the same page.

  • Progress Checks: Keep an eye on how students are doing and suggest changes if the plan isn’t working.

  • Future Planning: For older students, help connect IEP goals to high school, college, or career plans.

School-Wide Support

  • Work on projects that improve attendance, fairness, and well-being across the school.

  • Provide a safe space for private conversations about stress, grief, identity, or family challenges.
