A pretty special day for a few of our students. Yesterday Ms. Morgana and Mrs. Zambrzycki took a group to A Day of Computing at the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center at Montclair State University.

On March 11, 2026, twelve seventh-grade students from the STEAM program traveled to Princeton University for the Youth STEM Conference. Throughout the day, they explored the remarkable contributions women are making to the field of STEM nationwide. Highlights included a panel featuring an astrophysicist working in Greenland, a live demonstration by two chemistry professors, and insights from female scientists across various disciplines. Our students also enjoyed hands-on experiences with several interactive scientific exhibits.

Ms. Morgana’s classes brought the Winter Olympics to life! Students learned the engineering design process, studied real bobsled runs, and worked in teams to research, plan, and build their own models out of recycled materials. Today we finally tested them on one of the last snow piles outside. A great day of teamwork, creativity, and a lot of laughs. Turns out you can go bobsledding in 70-degree weather.

Mrs. Eustic's 7th Grade ELA classes celebrated Black History Month by researching famous black authors, poets, comic creators and/or playwrights and creating posters displaying their achievements, challenges, and the impact they had on society. They presented their finished projects to their classmates.

For Read Across America Week, Ms. Cespedes’ class had a very special guest reader… a lion! Our therapy dog Hudson stopped by to share a story and help spark a conversation about bravery and facing our fears. The room was filled with great books, big smiles, and a little bit of classroom magic. Moments like these are such a great reminder of how powerful stories can be!

On Saturday, February 28, Angel Alburez, Matthew Lafi, and Chris Torres, 7th-grade STEAM students, attended the 15th Annual 90-Second Newbery Film Festival at the Brooklyn Public Library. The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival is an annual nationwide video contest in which young filmmakers create short films that summarize Newbery Award–winning books in 90 seconds. The films must stay true to the core of the plot while also incorporating a unique and creative twist.

The sweetest surprise rolled through the halls today. A small thank you for the incredible staff who make our Junior High such a special place every day.
